Worship Services Canceled

for

Sunday, March 22 & Sunday, March 29

Dear Friends of Williamsburg United Methodist Church,

A message from Bishop Sharma D. Lewis of the Virginia Annual Conference states:

“In monitoring the COVID-19 situation and the state of emergency announced by Governor Northam yesterday, all Virginia Conference churches are to cancel worship service for Sunday, March 15 and Sunday, March 22.  I also strongly urge that any large gatherings at your church be postponed.  Public health officials have shared that with an abundance of caution we can help slow the spread of disease by practicing social distancing . . .

Please remain in prayer for those most vulnerable in our communities as well as those suffering from COVID-19 and their families.  Also, please pray for leaders and healthcare professionals in the United States and worldwide who are working to contain this pandemic and find a vaccine.  Also, it cannot be said enough, please continue to use best practices by regularly washing your hands, avoid touching your face and monitoring updates from local officials on how to best care for yourself and your loved ones during this time.”

In accordance with the request from the Bishop, we are canceling worship services on Sunday, March 15 and Sunday, March 22.

On Sunday, March 15, we will post an abbreviated worship service of scripture, sermon, and prayer by Senior Pastor Bill Jones at 10:00 a.m.  To view this click here

In addition to cancelling our worship services for the next two Sundays, all church operations (and programs that use the building including KMO, ECMS, Respite, Scouts, AA, etc.) will be suspended starting Monday, March 16, until further notice.  Please check here for updates.

Are you sick or in quarantine? We want to make sure that our community remains connected, even when illness or quarantine requires physical separation. Please complete this form so we are aware of your circumstances by clicking here.

We appreciate your continued financial support of WUMC during this time of absence from church. You may give online at our church website by clicking here or send your contribution by mail. Thank you for your generosity as we continue to serve Jesus Christ in historic Williamsburg and beyond.

We learned that a member of our Respite Care family has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. We have informed members of our Respite family and volunteers and have been in contact with the Virginia Department of Health.

Please be in prayer for our church, our community, and the world during this health crisis.

Grace and Peace,

Bill Jones,

Senior Pastor
