Meghan Roth Clayton, a Richmond, Virginia native, embarked on her journey of faith and ministry during her time at The College of William and Mary. Graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Religious Studies, Meghan's path was not only marked by academic achievements but also by serendipitous encounters, such as meeting her future husband, Josh, at the college’s annual King and Queen Ball!
During her college years, Meghan rediscovered her calling to ministry, a seed planted in her heart at an early age through the mentorship of former campus minister Rev. David Hindman. She was part of the inaugural Calling 21 cohort and served at St. Luke’s UMC in Yorktown, where her passion for serving others blossomed.
Following her graduation, she pursued her Master of Divinity degree at Wesley Theological Seminary, during which she served in campus ministry at various institutions. After completing her seminary education, Meghan served as an associate pastor at Messiah United Methodist Church in the Alexandria District before being ordained as an elder in full connection in 2015. She then spent two years at Salem UMC in Mathews before joining Williamsburg United Methodist Church in November 2017. Meghan's passion for ministry lies in fostering deeper connections between people and God and the world God so loves.
She shares that, "Williamsburg is my favorite place in the world! When I was here in college, my go-to beverage was a spiced chai latte at Aroma's. If I had a few extra dollars, I enjoyed lunch at the famous Cheese Shop sandwich counter. While our busy family doesn't eat out much anymore, Josh and I love a lunch date at Amber Ox. We also love to explore the beautiful nature trails like Greensprings or local playgrounds like Kidsburg. Our happiest pastime is a trip to Busch Gardens."
