Holy week

Please join us as we journey through Holy Week in preparation for Easter.

holy week schedule

Palm Sunday - April 5

At the time Jesus was born more than 2,000 years ago, Jesus was a common name.  Not so much today.  Many of us can’t imagine naming a child Jesus.  There’s too much identity wrapped up in the name.  Those who gathered along the parade route on the first Palm Sunday, as Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey, asked “Who is this?  Who is this Jesus?”  After his death and resurrection, the apostle Paul declared that there will come a time “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord . . .”  Tune into our online worship service on Palm Sunday as Pastor Bill preaches on “There's Something About That Name.”  The Scriptures are Matthew 21:1-11 and Philippians 2:1-11.

Maundy Thursday - April 9

Whether you are at home by yourself or with others, find a time this week to treat one of your meals as holy.  We may not be able to gather for our traditional Maundy Thursday and Holy Communion, but "breaking bread” has always been a special religious act.  Gather at the table, prepare your favorite comfort foods, and enjoy your meal while following the liturgy and sharing in these prayers, provided thanks to Dr. Marcia McFee.
