CARE & SUPPORT

LOVE AS WE HAVE BEEN LOVED

ENRICHING FAITH AND DAILY LIFE THROUGH THE GIFTS OF PRAYER AND CARE

We believe that the love we experience from God in Christ flows through us to one another. Whether you are experiencing a challenge, a celebration, or need a care support group, we want to lift all things to the Lord and experience them alongside one another.

The hope and pursuit of our care ministry is that people experience the love of Christ through caring relationship with one another, share in the pain and joy of life together, and find meaningful support and grow in capacity to care for others.

Resources During Challenging Times

In times of uncertainty, we understand that accessing resources and support is crucial. Whether you require assistance with basic needs, seek spiritual guidance, or need pastoral care, we're here to help.

CARE COMMITTEE

Our CARE Committee embodies the true spirit of compassion and community support. With a commitment to serving those in need, this dedicated group offers invaluable assistance in various ways. Here's how you can join us in making a difference:

  1. Funeral Receptions: Extend comfort and solace by assisting in organizing and hosting receptions following funeral services. Your presence provides a supportive environment for grieving families and friends.

  2. Medical Rides: Be the lifeline for those in our community who require transportation to medical appointments. Your assistance ensures access to essential healthcare services for those unable to drive themselves.

  3. Meal Arrangements: Share the gift of nourishment and care by coordinating and delivering meals to members facing recovery from surgery, illness, or significant life events.

Why Join the CARE Committee?

  • Immediate Impact: Your involvement directly touches the lives of those in need, offering immediate comfort and support during challenging times.
  • Community Connection: Forge deeper relationships within our church family as you work alongside fellow members to serve others with love and compassion.
  • Flexible Involvement: Whether you can dedicate yourself to regular service or provide occasional help, every contribution, no matter how small, makes a meaningful impact on those we serve.

Join us in spreading kindness, love, and support throughout our community. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most.

shepherd's fold

There is a segment of our congregation that we do not see in our sanctuary Sunday after Sunday.  These are the people who, due to failing health or age, must remain at home.  This group includes former choir members, ministers, Sunday School teachers, United Methodist Women leaders, United Methodist Men founders to name a few.  Our ministry of the Good Shepherd includes groups of workers with the purpose of remembering and ministering to these members.

Visitors are asked to establish a relationship with their assigned homebound person and visit as often as is comfortable for both.  Once a month is suggested.  Visitors are asked to call to the attention of the ministers and/or the coordinator any problems and concerns relating to the church, or requests of the “friend at home.”   Flower arrangements made from the chancel flowers are usually available to be taken to members in the hospital or to “friends at home” by 10:30 a.m. on Mondays.

If you are interested in this ministry, contact Rev. Meghan Roth Clayton at (757) 229-1771 Ext 357 or

EXTENDING THE REACH OF PASTORAL CARE

While our pastors will always be at the forefront of crisis care, the needs of our community often exceed what they can provide alone. Stephen Ministry is a biblical solution to this challenge, multiplying the impact of pastoral care by equipping lay members to join in this essential work. They are the hands and feet of Christ, reaching out in love to those who are hurting.
