COVENANT PARTNERSHIPS

At Williamsburg United Methodist Church, we believe in fostering deep and meaningful connections with organizations that resonate with our mission and values. Our Covenant Partnership initiative offers a unique opportunity for you to engage directly with missions that align with our vision of ministry. Recently, our congregation embarked on a journey of covenant relationships with three esteemed global mission partners: the Abukloi Foundation, dedicated to education in South Sudan; Hope in the Mountains, serving those in need in West Virginia; and the Carolina Honduras Health Foundation, providing healthcare in Honduras.

What does Covenant Partnership entail? It encompasses three essential components:

  1. Prayer: At the core of our covenant relationships is prayer. We commit to uplift our partners and their missions in prayer, knowing that through this collective act, we draw closer to God and to one another. Likewise, our mission partners reciprocate this commitment. We believe this web of prayer will draw us closer to God, each other, and our global mission partners.

  2. Engagement: Covenant Partnership invites active involvement in mission projects. While physical visits may not always be feasible, there are numerous ways to engage. Whether it's through electronic communication, local visits, or staying informed about our partners' work, every effort contributes to our shared mission.

  3. Financial Support: As part of our covenant, we pledge financial assistance to support the vital work of our mission partners. This includes allocating funds from our Global Outreach Committee budget to sustain their efforts and further their impact.

By upholding our covenant relationships through prayer, engagement, and financial support, we strengthen not only our local mission but also extend our impact to communities far beyond. If you're interested in joining us in covenant partnership with any or all of these organizations, reach out to Deacon Troy Sims for a Covenant Response Card and take the next step in meaningful ministry. We invite you to learn more about each of these partners below.

Abukloi Foundation

Abukloi Secondary School is a beacon of hope and excellence in South Sudan. Dedicated to developing a new generation of peaceful leaders, they are committed to excellence in education and small-business training. Rooted in Christian values, the school upholds principles of honesty, love, trust, respect, integrity, and transparency. Their mission is clear: to preserve, create, and disseminate knowledge while nurturing the dignity of individuals through quality and relevant teaching.

Students are not just educated; they are transformed. With a goal to instill a sense of responsibility, compassion, freedom, and concern for the welfare of others, they foster teamwork, collaboration, creativity, effective communication, tolerance and a culture of peace. As such, they are shaping leaders who will make a positive impact on their communities and beyond.

Carolina Honduras Health Foundation (CHHF)

CHHF is committed to improving overall health in the Dept. of Colón, Honduras. Through collaborative efforts with the local community, CHHF focuses on health education, community development, medical referrals, and primary care clinics.

Since 1995, CHHF has been making a profound impact through volunteer mission teams, including medical professionals and support staff, who provide free medical, dental, ophthalmic, and pharmaceutical services to those in need in villages throughout the region. These Medical Mission Teams, supported by Telemedicine and Medical Referrals, address immediate healthcare needs while also promoting long-term health and wellness. In addition to medical outreach, CHHF prioritizes ongoing health education and community development projects. These initiatives aim to increase knowledge about health-related issues and empower communities to make healthier choices, leading to sustainable improvements in overall well-being.

As a proud mission trip partner of CHHF, Williamsburg UMC is honored to support their impactful work in Honduras. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of those in need and contributing to the transformation of communities.

HOPE IN THE MOUNTAINS

Welcome to Hope in the Mountains, a beacon of hope nestled in the heart of Southern Raleigh County. Founded on the principle that hope should be a daily reality for all individuals, families, and seniors, Hope in the Mountains emerged from a deep understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable members of their community. For many, the guarantee of permanent housing, steady employment, and access to life's basic necessities remains elusive.

Their mission is to be an outreach for Jesus Christ in communities where there is need, offering a connection to Christ through an environment of hope and practical ways to improve lives. Through their services and programs, they strive to offer more than just assistance; they aim to empower individuals to overcome obstacles and reach their full potential. By partnering with Hope in the Mountains, we become a tangible source of hope, strength, and support for our neighbors in need. Together, we can make a lasting impact and bring about positive change in their community.

A HEART FOR MISSIONARIES

We are privileged to enter into a covenant relationship with four dedicated missionaries serving in diverse corners of the world—Oklahoma, Russia, the Republic of the Congo, and Cambodia. Our annual financial commitment of $2,500 to each missionary is just the beginning of our support. We recognize that true partnership goes beyond financial assistance.

In addition to our financial support, we keep these missionaries uplifted in prayer, knowing that our collective prayers span across continents, offering them strength, encouragement, and divine guidance in their endeavors. Beyond prayer, we maintain ongoing correspondence with each missionary, nurturing these connections and ensuring they feel the love and support of our church family, even from afar.

BEYOND MISSIONARIES

Our dedication to global outreach extends beyond individual missionaries. At Williamsburg United Methodist Church, we proudly support various international initiatives that align with our mission and values. From humanitarian aid projects to educational endeavors, we are committed to making a tangible difference in communities around the world. Through our ongoing partnerships and collaborations, we strive to extend God's love and compassion to every corner of the globe. Join us in our mission to spread hope, love, and transformation to all nations.
