Welcome to United Women In Faith. We’re a sisterhood acting in faith to tackle the hard work of the world without hesitation. Our vision is to put our Faith, Hope and Love into Action on behalf of women, children and youth all around the world. 


This is a community for women who find deep meaning in their church and are drawn to its fellowship. We understand that life is often packed full of activities and obligations—from juggling jobs to taking care of family. That's why we offer a space that combines study with meaningful fellowship and outreach opportunities.

Women's circles

Welcome to the heart of our United Women in Faith community—our Circles. These small groups serve as intimate spaces where women can connect, share, and grow in faith together. Whether you're looking to dive deeper into spiritual study, engage in meaningful discussions, or participate in outreach activities, there's a Circle that's just right for you.


Why Join a Circle?  Personal Growth: Engage in spiritual and personal development.  Community: Build lasting relationships with like-minded individuals. Outreach: Participate in community service and mission work. Support: Find a supportive network for life's ups and downs.


Find Your Circle We currently have six Circles, each with its own unique focus and schedule. Whether you're a morning person or prefer evening gatherings, there's a Circle that will fit into your life seamlessly. Click the + signs below to learn more about each group.

  • The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month in Room 309 at 9:45 a.m., followed by lunch at a local restaurant. Plans informative meetings with hands-on projects. Activities include working at and donating to FISH, and supporting a Salvation Army family during the Christmas season.

  • The group gathers on the second Tuesday of each month in Room 174 at 10:00 a.m. Their activities include projects to support Shepherd's Fold, and planning mission-related programs.

  • The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the Church Resource Room at 1:00 p.m. Members support FISH, UMCOR Kits, and the Salvation Army.  They are also very involved with care of shut-ins. Additionally, the group features a special program every month.

  • The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month in Room 309 at 1:00 p.m. Members focus on planning informative programs with an emphasis on mission topics. They support various initiatives including local missions at WUMC, the Carolina Honduras Health Foundation, Refugee Relief, and Social Action concerns.

  • The group gathers on the second Tuesday of each month in Room 309 at 6:30 p.m. The Circle offers meetings that include either an informative program or a hands-on project. The group encourages sustainable practices.  Members build relationships with assisted living and memory care residents in the Williamsburg community, and support Red Bird Mission with digital box tops.


  • The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month in Room 174 at 10:00 a.m.  An interesting program is presented every month. They support Avalon through monetary and item donations. Additionally, they sell RADA knives and kitchen tools, with the profits going toward mission projects. The group also collects children's underwear, socks, and non-perishable items for FISH.

Carol brinkley memorial BOOK CLUB

Join our bi-monthly Book Discussion Group, hosted via Zoom on the second Monday of every "odd" month (January, March, May, July, September, November) at 7:00 p.m. We delve into books from the UWF Reading Program and engage in enriching discussions about the month's chosen read. Who Can Participate?
This reading program is open to all church members, from toddlers to adults. You don't have to be a UWF member to participate, nor do you need to attend the monthly meetings to be part of the reading program. Everyone is welcome, and participants can even earn recognition certificates from the UWF organization.

united methodist men (umm)

United Methodist Men is a fellowship committed to the growth and expansion of the church's Christian mission. We focus on helping men live out their vows and commitments through a covenant relationship with other men in the church. Our central question: What does it mean to be a man serving the Lord?


Purpose

Our Purpose is to provide a supportive fellowship for men seeking to know Jesus Christ, grow spiritually, seek His will, and help others find a welcoming place for Christ in their hearts and lives. the UMM’s programs, activities, and special events are closely related to the overall mission of the church.

Open Membership

While many of our members are part of Williamsburg UMC, church membership is not a requirement for joining our fellowship. Any man who understands and accepts the Christian principles and purposes of the United Methodist Men is welcome. Why This Matters: We believe that spiritual growth and community service are not limited to church members. Our doors are open to all men who wish to make a positive impact in their lives and in the community.

churchwide fellowship breakfast

Join the UMM every third Saturday of the month as they host a time for all members of the church to come together!  These breakfasts are a cornerstone of our United Methodist Men community. These gatherings are more than just meals; they are an opportunity for spiritual growth, intellectual stimulation, and meaningful fellowship.


What to Expect:

  • Guest Speakers: Hear from a variety of guest speakers who bring wisdom, insights, and inspirational messages.

  • Offsite Adventures: During July and August, we switch things up by meeting at local restaurants, offering a change of scenery and a chance to explore our local community.

  • Hearty Breakfast: Enjoy a delicious, hearty breakfast that will fuel your body and soul.

  • Devotional Time: Start your day right with a moment of prayer and reflection, led by one of our community members.

  • Fellowship: Spend quality time connecting with like-minded men and women, sharing experiences, and building lasting friendships.


A festive, seasonal breakfast will be offered for $10 for adults, and $5 for children under 12 years of age -- with a maximum cost of $30 per family. All proceeds go to support local and global missions. 

Don't miss out on these uplifting mornings. They're a fantastic way to deepen your faith, expand your knowledge, and strengthen your bonds with fellow believers.

outreach opportunities

Wesley Foundation Social Event Funding: We are proud supporters of social events organized by the Wesley Foundation, aiming to foster community and spiritual growth of college students at William & Mary.


Regular Donations: Our commitment to service extends beyond our immediate community. We regularly contribute to a variety of organizations, including:

  • WUMC Youth Program: Supporting the spiritual and social development of our church's Youth.
  • Heart Haven: Empowering adults with a developmental disability to live and thrive in their community.
  • Chaplain Service of Virginia: Assisting in providing spiritual care and guidance across the state of Virginia.
  • BSA Troop #103: Backing the development of young men through scouting activities and community service.
  • The Wesley Foundation: Furthering the mission of this student ministry through financial support.
  • Peninsula Pastoral Counseling Center: Helping to provide affordable mental health services in our community.
  • The Society of St. Andrew: Aiding in their mission to end hunger through gleaning and food rescue programs.

UMM Book Discussion Group: Where Science Meets Spirituality

Dive into thought-provoking discussions with our United Methodist Men's Book Discussion Group, meeting on Monday nights throughout the year. This isn't your average book club; we explore a diverse array of topics with a special focus on the intersection of Science and Religion.

Why Join?

  • The John Harbour Scholarship Fund was created by John's wife, Helen, and the UMM, following his death in 1988, to honor his service to Jesus Christ, the Church and to the Community. Mr. Harbour was a charter member of the UMM. The scholarship is for graduate work and carries with it an award of $1000. Preference is given to persons who intend to go into full time ordained ministry or other Christian service.

About the Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry at Williamsburg United Methodist Church is more than just a knitting circle; it's a community of caring individuals committed to providing tangible symbols of love and prayer. Each shawl we create is a labor of love, intended to bring comfort, peace, and spiritual sustenance to those in need.


Join Our Crafting Gatherings

We warmly invite you to be part of this heartfelt ministry. Whether you're an experienced crafter or a beginner eager to learn, you're welcome in our circle.

quilt ministry

The Quilt Ministry creates beautiful quilts for various nonprofit organizations in the Williamsburg area.  Special quilts have been given to the elderly clients at Williamsburg United Methodist Church Respite Care center, women given a second chance in life at Latisha's House, homeless patrons served by 3eRestoration, and the residents leaving the county's juvenile detention center at Merrimac Center. Our hope is that all recipients feel the love, support, and encouragement that is quilted into each one of our gifts.


The Quilt Ministry welcomes anyone interested in working as a team to construct quilts. No prior experience is necessary. We will share all of our skills and teach you everything you need to know.


Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month from 12pm to 3pm in Room 307. Drop in as you are able, at any time, and stay as long as you can. You will find us busily engaged, experiencing great fulfillment, and having lots of fun along the way.  Help us sew and pray.


Others ways to help are to create quilts as donations or supply materials for the ministry.  Needed items are:

  • Individual Finished Blocks
  • Unfinished Quilt Tops
  • Lightweight Batting (not fiberfill)

MUSIC MINISTRIES

ADULT MUSIC LESSONS


Music lessons are available for the young or young-at-heart adult from our Early Childhood Music School (ECMS) instructors. Learn to play the keyboard in group piano classes or beginning guitar.

WUMC offers Bible and theology studies as well as small groups for mutual support throughout the year. In addition, we also offer adult Sunday School from 9:30-10:30am.
