SERVICE INFORMATION

So, you're getting married! Congratulations! We at Williamsburg United Methodist Church (WUMC) believe a marriage ceremony is an act of worship and are eager to work with you to ensure your wedding reflects praise and thanksgiving to God.

  • Pastor Fee: The fee for a Williamsburg UMC pastor is $300, due two weeks prior to wedding. For other services and fees, please visit the Wedding Request form linked below.
  • Guest Pastors: Guest pastors are always welcome at Williamsburg UMC. Please share your pastor's contact information when you register. 
  • Wedding Assistants: Your wedding assistant will help plan your rehearsal and wedding. They will contact you four months before your wedding date to arrange your first meeting.
  • Rehearsal: We recommend you hold your rehearsal the evening before your wedding. Rehearsals generally take 30-45 minutes. Your assigned wedding assistant will be present for the rehearsal.
  • Musicians & Vocalists: When your registration is confirmed, you will receive an email with available musicians and vocalists. Fees are paid directly to the musicians/vocalists.

  • Marriage License: The state of Virginia requires couples to secure a marriage license to marry. Marriage licenses with 12 hours of premarital education, and an assessment, and a completed and signed statement of premarital education will receive a $75 discount. 
  • Cancellation Policy: If, for some reason, we are not able to confirm your request, we will give you a complete refund. For cancelations received 90+ days in advance, we will refund all but a $50 administration fee. Cancelations with less than 90 days' notice will be refunded 50% of the total fees.
  • Scheduling: Please note we cannot confirm a wedding date further than 18 months in advance.

CAMPUS VENUE POLICIES

  • The use of tobacco and alcohol is prohibited everywhere inside the campus buildings, including the entrance areas.
  • Colored (red, blue, orange, etc.) beverages are prohibited.
  • Candles must not drip wax.
  • No food is permitted in the Chapel or Sanctuary

Our goal throughout the wedding preparation process and during the wedding itself is to help you build a faith-filled, Jesus-centered marriage. To accomplish this, the following requirements must be fulfilled to be married at Williamsburg UMC or by a Williamsburg UMC pastor.

 What is your cancellation policy?
