Tom Marshall
Organist
Tom became a valuable member of the WUMC music ministry team in October 2004, bringing with him extensive expertise in organ and harpsichord performance. With degrees from James Madison University and the University of Michigan, he has not only contributed significantly to the church but has also been a prominent figure in the broader musical community. Tom was the founding director of the Williamsburg Choral Guild, a charter member of the Southeastern Historical Keyboard Society, and has been a dedicated member of the American Guild of Organists for most of his life.
Beyond his church music responsibilities, Tom is an esteemed member of the artist-faculty at the College of William and Mary, where he imparts his knowledge of harpsichord and piano. His successful organ program at the college, with up to 15 students each semester, utilizes the Williamsburg UMC Organ as the main teaching and practice instrument. Additionally, Tom serves as the harpsichordist for the Wren Masters, William and Mary's faculty Baroque ensemble.
In his role as Organist at WUMC, Tom not only plays the organ at most church services but also oversees the care and maintenance of the church's pipe organ, several high-quality pianos, and an exquisite replica of an 18th-century French harpsichord.
