SPECIAL ADVENT OFFERING & ALTERNATIVE GIFT OPTION

As we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ, we are invited to reflect His love through acts of compassion and care. This Advent, our Local & Global Outreach Committees have chosen five impactful causes to support, offering us a chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

This Year’s Advent Missions

  • Undue Medical Debt – An initiative of the Virginia Conference of the UMC, this program erases medical debt for vulnerable families by purchasing it for pennies on the dollar, freeing individuals from financial burdens and stress.

  • Williamsburg House of Mercy – This local organization provides essential resources, including food, shelter, and support, to our neighbors in need, embodying Christ’s call to care for the least among us.

  • Hope Family Village – A planned cohousing community in Williamsburg offering sustainable support and acceptance for individuals with mental health conditions and their families.

  • Doctors Without Borders, Sudan – Teams in Sudan are providing lifesaving care to war-wounded patients and delivering humanitarian aid to displaced individuals living in refugee camps.

  • Hope in the Mountains: Water Project – Our Covenant Partner is helping bring municipal water to homes in rural West Virginia, improving the quality of life for families in these underserved areas.

When you give to the general Advent Offering, your contribution will be equally divided among these missions, amplifying your impact across these vital causes.

Alternatively, our Alternative Gift Market allows you to make a donation of at least $25 to a specific organization and receive a card to gift to a loved one. This card honors your donation and highlights the meaningful impact of your gift. For example, a $75 donation would provide three cards.

For questions or assistance, please contact Deacon Troy Sims at tsims@williamsburgumc.org or 757-229-1771, x258.

This Advent season, let’s come together as a church community to embody the spirit of Christ’s love and generosity. Your participation makes a difference and shines a light of hope for others.
