Cost: $10.00

Join us for a morning of companionship, enlightenment, and great food at our monthly Churchwide Fellowship Breakfast, hosted by United Methodist Men. To ensure your seat, please RSVP in advance. The cost for the breakfast is $10 per person, and we also ask attendees to consider donating to the Harbour Scholarship Fund and other UMM-supported ministries.

Our speaker will be Dr. Deborah Allen Hewitt. Dr. Hewitt is an active member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church and serves as the Chairperson of the Board of the Respite Program—a social program serving disabled adults and providing respite to their caregivers. Her dedication to this ministry was inspired by the wonderful experience her late husband, Jim, had as a participant.

Dr. Hewitt has titled her talk: "Aging is not for Sissies!" As she says, “Getting older is no easy feat, and we all experience it in different ways. When a loved one becomes dependent, it can be a challenge for the whole family.” In addressing these challenges, the WUMC Respite Care ministry plays a vital role. The program offers a fun, engaging environment for dependent adults while giving caregivers the much-needed break they deserve. Join us to learn more about aging in Williamsburg and take a tour of our Respite Care center—it’s a journey you won’t want to miss!

Deborah will discuss the Respite Care Program in depth, demonstrating how this ministry meets a real need in our community by providing a safe, love-filled space for men and women, primarily those with early to mid-stage dementia, while also offering respite to their caregivers. Following her talk, Deborah will also lead a tour of the Respite Care Facility.
