Support the transformative work of the Kairos Prison Ministry during their upcoming weekend at Sussex II State Prison. This mission effort brings Christ’s love and forgiveness to incarcerated individuals through prayer, personal encouragement, and acts of kindness. You can be part of this impactful ministry by helping provide home-baked cookies, hand-decorated placemats, and encouraging posters. These simple gifts carry a powerful message of hope and care.

The next Kairos event at Nottoway Prison is coming up June 5-8. You are invited to participate by baking cookies, making placemats, and praying for the participants. Learn more in the Atrium on May 18 & 25 or just drop by our table to pickup ziploc bags and cookie preparation requirements. Cookies need to be delivered to the church during business hours on June 1, 2, or 3. To get connected to the coordinator, reach out to Deacon Troy Sims (tsims@williamsburgumc.org).

Prayer Chain: We're aiming for continuous prayer coverage throughout the entire weekend. Individuals can sign up for a half-hour time slot to pray for residents, team members, officers, and all involved. Your prayers provide powerful encouragement—thank you for lifting this ministry in love and faith.

Placemats: These are a wonderful way for both kids and adults to participate! Bright colors and uplifting messages are encouraged. Please remember to use first names only when signing. Placemats will be used during meals, offering encouragement with every bite.

Cookies: We need dozens of homemade cookies to help spread kindness.

  • What kinds? Oatmeal, peanut butter, molasses, chocolate chip, ginger, and sugar (no icing, fruit, or nuts).
  • Size: 2–2.5 inches in diameter, no more than ½ inch thick.
  • Packing: One dozen per quart-sized Ziploc bag, labeled with the cookie type. If not used within three days, please freeze them.

Drop-off: Please deliver to WUMC by June 3 so they can be brought into the prison. Thank you for showing love in action through your time, prayers, and homemade gifts!
