As we follow Jesus we often wonder, "What should we do." But, we also ask, "Who should we be?" This month, we'll explore a section of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount called the Beatitudes. They are a list of blessings ("beatitude" means "blessed" in Greek) for the people who follow Jesus. When we read who Jesus calls blessed, we might be surprised to discover his descriptions don't include people who are powerful and comfortable, but lift up those who are weak, hurting, and lonely. We'll wonder together about what Jesus meant by these strange blessing, and how they invite us to live and who they invite us to become along the way.
