Join us for the Churchwide Fellowship Breakfast while learning about Virginia’s First People and their lasting impact on the culture of Virginia. Our speaker, Jim Griffin, will share insights on the earliest human inhabitants of Virginia and the significant contributions these groups made to the region’s vibrant heritage.
Jim has been a church member for five years and currently serves as Chair of the Trustee Committee. He and his wife Nella relocated here from Florida, where Jim retired after a career in the United States Navy and a second career as an environmental scientist. He worked with Florida’s local and state governments and taught as a research and teaching faculty member at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Jim holds a BA-Chemistry from the University of South Florida, an MS in electrical systems technology from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and a PhD in Environmental Science from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. In retirement, he has taught environmental science courses through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at USF and William and Mary, focusing on connections between Paleolithic cultures in Europe and their evidence in Virginia.
A full breakfast will be served by the men of our church, featuring breakfast casseroles, sweet rolls and breads, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. The cost is $10.00 per person, with all proceeds supporting church ministries and outreach.
