Everyone is invited to enjoy breakfast and a special program featuring Joe Filko. Joe will present “A Nation Founded Upon an Idea,” a talk exploring America’s founding principles and the key figures who shaped them. As we gather for this special event, it is particularly significant to reflect on two major milestones in our history. We are approaching nearly 250 years since the nation’s founding, a testament to the enduring legacy of American democracy and the vision of our founders.
Additionally, it has been almost 100 years since Williamsburg’s restoration began, creating a living museum of colonial history. This remarkable effort has helped to preserve and showcase Virginia’s central role in the formation of the United States, allowing us to experience and appreciate the rich heritage that continues to shape our nation today.
Joe Filko earned his bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and a graduate degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He taught American Government, Economics, and Problems of Democracy at State College Area High School at the 12th grade level and later taught undergraduate courses in Risk Management and Insurance to actuarial science majors in Penn State University’s College of Business. He currently serves as a volunteer at the St. George Tucker House, the donor reception center for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in the Historic Area. In addition, Joe has written newspaper opinion columns for nearly 40 years and has been a regular contributor to The Virginia Gazette since 2015.
A full breakfast will be prepared and served by the men of our church and will include breakfast casseroles, sweet rolls and breads, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. The cost is $10.00 per person, with all proceeds supporting church ministries and outreach.
