You are invited to the Churchwide Fellowship Breakfast on Saturday, June 20, at 8:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome—church members and guests alike. Enjoy a delicious breakfast while learning about Virginia’s First People and their lasting impact on the culture of Virginia. Our speaker, Gerald Bullock, long time member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church and Executive Director of Development for the College of Arts & Sciences at W&M, will provide an introductory background at our breakfast and then he will lead us on a tour of the Sir Christopher Wren Building on the campus of William and Mary.
The Wren Building, which dates to a time before Williamsburg was founded and almost 100 years before the colonies declared their independence, has undergone full restoration and is now reopening. First constructed between 1695 and 1705 by members of the enslaved community, the Wren is the oldest college building still standing in the U.S. and the oldest of the restored buildings in Williamsburg. Having been gutted by fire three times, the Wren has been described as the "soul of the College" and has been witness to the American Revolution, Civil War and generations of William & Mary students who have studied and learned within its walls. This historic building has recently undergone a $12 million renovation just in time for our nation's semi-quincentennial celebration.
A full breakfast will be served by the men of our church, featuring breakfast casseroles, sweet rolls and breads, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. The cost is $10.00 per person, with all proceeds supporting church ministries and outreach.
This is an event that you will not want to miss. Early registration is required.
