Children

worship

At Williamsburg UMC, we design worship for all ages to respond and grow in deeper relationship with the God who is always reaching out to us in love. Following the Moment of Teaching during the 11 am service, our children grades K-4 are invited to Children’s Worship. We’ll gather in the Children’s Worship Space next to the sanctuary to explore a Bible story, sing songs, and respond to God through crafts and games. Kids will return to the sanctuary to sit with their families following the sermon.

Nursery

Nursery care is available at both the 8:15 am and 11:00 am services, as well as during the Sunday School hour, for children Pre-K and younger. Your little ones can be dropped off and picked up in our Seedlings Classroom found on the 1st floor down the hall from our Sanctuary. Not sure where that is?  No worries!  Just follow the signs or ask one of our greeters!

Our paid nursery staff and volunteers have years of childcare experience, are fully background-checked, and are trained according to Safe Sanctuaries' best practices. *Safe Sanctuaries is a program developed by the United Methodist Church to protect children and vulnerable adults. To view WUMC’s policy tailored to our local context, see below.

Music MINISTRY

WESLEY CHOIR

Wesley Choir is an elementary age choir that focuses on teaching participants how to use their voice, read music, as well as find a new expression to their engagement in worship. Participants help lead worship about once a month throughout the school year and break for the summer months. Students in grades 1-5 meet on Sundays from 12:30 - 1:15 p.m. in Room 173 to rehearse unison and two-part music.

Early Childhood Music School

(ECMS)

The Early Childhood Music School is a weekday program offered to the community-at-large. Weekly classes in music and movement (taught by internationally certified early childhood music specialists) address the following goals:

  • Promote music education as every child’s right.
  • Generate enthusiasm for music through repeated, positive experiences.
  • Provide holistic education at a time when children are developmentally receptive.
  • Create a nurturing environment that enables children to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
  • Affirm and support parents of young children while facilitating positive family interaction.

KID'S MORNING OUT

(KMO)

Williamsburg United Methodist Church has a deep and long-term commitment to ministry within the local community. One of the ways this shows up is an intentional outreach to families and caregivers of the youngest among us, which we call Kids Morning Out. Throughout the school year, this weekday ministry provides an environment that demonstrates God's unconditional love for all children by fostering each child's social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual growth, and creating a support system for caregivers of young children.

We currently offer classes for children between the ages of one and four, as of September 30: Sprouts (young toddlers), Seedlings (twos), Saplings (threes), and Sycamores (fours).

We are so grateful for KMO Director Laura Pittman, her gifted and loving staff, dedicated board members, and most of all, our KMO families and students! We’d love for you to see more of what KMO is all about.

SCOUTS

Pack 103 was chartered on October 31, 1949.  So we are celebrating 70 years of scouting together! We are a large pack with an average of about 100 scouts a year. We meet as a pack at least once a month for fun activities for the whole family. Our den and monthly pack meetings take place at Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Siblings are always welcome to participate in Pack activities. Pack 103 is a family-oriented group focused on outdoor adventure, community involvement, and having “fun with a purpose.”
