At Williamsburg UMC, we design worship for all ages to respond and grow in deeper relationship with the God who is always reaching out to us in love. Following the Children's Message during the 9:30am and 11am services, children in grades K-5 are invited to Children’s Worship. We’ll gather in the Godly Play Room (next to the sanctuary) to explore a Bible story, sing songs, and respond creatively to how they are experiencing God. Kids will return to worship to sit with their families following the sermon. Kids in Pre-K are invited to the Nursery at the same time for a Worship Time designed specifically for them. Pre-K will remain in the Nursery for the remainder of the service, and are always welcome in the Nursery at any time during worship.

We welcome kids in grades K - 5 to join the Godly Play circle during the Modern Worship Service (9:30am)

This is a time to slow down and spend time with God in sacred story, wondering together, and creative response. This time together focuses on forming our youngest disciples in the stories of the people of God so that they can see how God has always been with us and is always with them. Children are invited to Godly Play following the Children's Message in Modern Worship. They will return to the Fellowship Hall following the sermon to receive communion with their families.

Nursery

Nursery care is available during all Sunday worship services, 8am - 12:15pm, for children ages 6 weeks - 4yrs. Our paid nursery staff and volunteers have extensive childcare experience, and are fully background-checked and trained according to our Safe Sanctuaries policy (designed for the protection and thriving of children, youth, and vulnerable adults). Pre-K Children's Worship

Children in the Nursery will experience their own time of worship and spiritual formation through music, Bible storytelling, play, and crafts during each worship service. Kids are invited to spend the whole worship hour in the Nursery, or worship with their families before being dismissed following the Children's Message. Pre-K will not return to worship following the sermon. 

Your little ones can be dropped off and picked up in the Nursery (Rm. 203) found on the 1st floor down the hall from our Sanctuary. Not sure where that is?  No worries! Just follow the signs or ask one of our greeters!

Messy Church

An evening of play, crafts, worship and dinner. This is real church for real life. 

Come join us at Williamsburg United Methodist Church for a family night like no other! Mark your calendars for the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to discover a new theme of life with God each month through free play, crafts, fun praise songs, and Bible stories. Experience heartfelt prayers and join in for dramatic storytelling that brings the theme to life. Wrap up the evening with a delicious family-style dinner where you can share stories and laughs with both new friends and old —no cost, no dress code or expectations, and always open to all ages. Join us to have fun with God and each other! 

So, why should you join us? Well, aside from the fun activities and the yummy food, you'll also go home with fresh ideas for following Jesus in daily life.

Tweens group

Monthly Outings for kids in 3rd-5th grade on the first Tuesday of each month from 5:30-7:30pm.

This is a night just for our older elementary kids to have fun together and deepen friendship! We'll gather each month for silly games and activities designed to help us know each other better and build community. Each outing also includes a time to share prayer for each other and encounter God's grace among us in a brief devotion. No need to RSVP, just come ready to have fun!

  • Sept. 1 Amazing Race Challenge - Team competition in ridiculous puzzles and challenges for silly prizes
  • Oct. 6 Munchies at the Movies - Watch a Fall movie and bake treats from the film
  • Nov. 3 Escape Game - Work together to solve a fun whodunnit puzzle
  • Dec. 1 Christmas Cool Off - Ice skating and hot cocoa at Merchant's Square

Music MINISTRY

CAROL CHOIR

Carol Choir is a Christian music opportunity for Preschool aged children.  For 20 minutes after Modern Worship, Preschoolers and their parent(s) meet in the Fellowship Hall to make music, explore movement, and have fun!!  Come sing and dance with us if your child is PreK aged!!

WESLEY CHOIR

Wesley Choir is an elementary age choir that focuses on teaching participants how to use their voice, read music, as well as find a new expression to their engagement in worship. Participants help lead worship about once a month throughout the school year and break for the summer months. Students in grades 1-5 meet on Sundays from 12:30 - 1:15 p.m. in Room 173 to rehearse unison and two-part music.

Early Childhood Music School

(ECMS)

The Early Childhood Music School is a weekday program offered to the community-at-large. Weekly classes in music and movement (taught by internationally certified early childhood music specialists) address the following goals:

  • Promote music education as every child’s right.
  • Generate enthusiasm for music through repeated, positive experiences.
  • Provide holistic education at a time when children are developmentally receptive.
  • Create a nurturing environment that enables children to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
  • Affirm and support parents of young children while facilitating positive family interaction.

CHILDREN

THROUGH 5TH GRADE

At Williamsburg UMC, we believe God is reaching out to all of us, no matter how young we might be! We offer faith formation to our youngest disciples through Sunday Nursery and Children’s Worship, monthly Messy Church, and monthly outings for Tweens (3rd-5th grade) to grow in community and faith. We also offer a well-rounded music program, a vibrant preschool and music school, and welcome Cub Scouts through our doors each week. We believe that faith is formed beyond the walls of the church, so we also offer resources to parents and families of all kinds to help your family grow in relationship with God and neighbors.
