KMO Director

Job Overview
We are seeking a caring, energetic, and faith-filled Director of Preschool to lead our Christian Early Childhood Education program. In this leadership role, you will oversee a high-quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum, foster a nurturing environment for children and families, and manage the daily operations of the preschool.

The Director will support and supervise teachers, build strong partnerships with parents, and ensure that all aspects of the program reflect Christian values, educational excellence, and child safety. Through collaborative leadership and a passion for early childhood education, the Director will help cultivate a joyful learning community where children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated educator and leader committed to serving young children and families through a vibrant faith-based ministry.

Duties

  • Direct daily operations of the Kid's Morning Out Program, including staffing, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Maintain a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment grounded in Christian love and compassion.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff.
  • Build strong relationships with families and provide parent education opportunities.
  • Oversee enrollment, withdrawals, and required documentation.
  • Coordinate marketing and communications through print and digital media.
  • Manage classroom and playground equipment, supplies, and facility needs.
  • Oversee finances, including budgeting, tuition collection, and financial reporting.
  • Pursue fundraising and grant opportunities to support program growth.
  • Explore program expansion opportunities to better serve families and advance the mission of WUMC.
  • While this position is year-round, summer months require fewer hours.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of classroom experience and two years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing programs, staff, and budgets.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit financial practices and administrative systems.
  • Proficiency with digital record-keeping, communications tools, social media, email marketing platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Kid's Morning Out is a Religiously Exempt Child Day Center. We follow all guidelines required by the state of Virginia. Our staff members have all completed thorough background investigations, and multiple on-site staff are trained in Pediatric CPR and First Aid.

Pay: $26,000.00 - $31,500.00 per year

Lead Teacher

Job Overview
The Lead Teachers for Kid’s Morning Out (KMO) of Williamsburg United Methodist Church (WUMC) is responsible for implementing the program’s philosophy of providing an early childhood experience where each child’s cognitive, spiritual, emotional, social, and physical growth is fostered. The Lead Teacher works under direct supervision of the Kid’s Morning Out Director. The Lead Teacher must be familiar with basic Biblical knowledge and guided by a Christian faith.

Hours
9:00am-1:00pm with opportunities for extra hours for the Picnic Pals aftercare program.

Relationships

  • The Lead Teacher will serve as a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church Staff, and report directly to the KMO Director.
  • The Lead Teacher will work collaboratively with an Assistant Teacher.
  • The KMO Director will conduct an annual evaluation of the Lead Teacher’s job performance and make salary recommendations to the KMO Board.
  • The Lead Teacher will comply with all KMO policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Daily operations of a KMO Classroom.
  • Foster a safe, enriching, and stimulating classroom and curriculum taught in a culture of Christian love and compassion.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement daily classroom activities that are age appropriate and align with the KMO Mission Statement.
  • Maintain regular communication with KMO families. Establish and build positive relationships.
  • Complete all training requirements in a timely fashion.
  • Comply with all Safe Sanctuaries Policyrequirements without exception

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings; prior classroom management experience is essential.
  • Strong background in early childhood education principles including childhood development theories.
  • Knowledge of special education strategies and early intervention methods to support diverse learners.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with parents, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Ability to plan engaging lessons that incorporate physical activity, arts & crafts, storytelling, and other interactive learning experiences.
  • Familiarity with classroom management tools and techniques to foster a positive learning environment.

The Substitute Teacher works under direct supervision of the Kid’s Morning Out Director and will work with another Teacher. The Substitute Teacher must be familiar with basic Biblical knowledge and guided by a Christian faith.
