The Heritage Circle is proud to share that we are sponsoring a student, Ester Armat Marik, through the Abukloi School in South Sudan.
Our sponsorship provides Ester with the opportunity to attend school and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. With the help of Global Outreach member Bill Herman, we watched a moving video about the school and had the chance to meet Ester virtually. Through this experience, we also learned about the significant challenges faced by young women in South Sudan.
In this young nation, nearly half of all girls are married before the age of 18, and the rates of death during pregnancy and childbirth are tragically high. An adolescent girl is three times more likely to die in childbirth than to complete primary school. Education is a powerful tool to change this narrative—keeping young women in school helps delay marriage and gives them the opportunity to build a brighter future.
The Heritage Circle is excited and honored to support Ester on her educational journey and are committed to this meaningful, long-term project. Please keep Ester and all the students at Abukloi in your prayers as they strive to overcome immense challenges and create a better future for themselves and their communities.
