Directors
Anthony Williams, or Mr. Anthony as the kids call him, and his wife Annalena have been cherished members of the WUMC family since 2015. They first met at Randolph-Macon College while working together in the mailroom and eventually chose WUMC as the venue for their wedding, solidifying their ties to the church. When they're not taking in all that Busch Gardens has to offer (which isn't often!), the couple enjoys quality time with their families in the surrounding area and doting on their fur baby, Sherlock. Anthony, a multifaceted talent, finds joy in playing the guitar, piano, and singing a repertoire that spans from alternative rock to classic rock.
Joining WUMC in 2015 as the Associate Director of Music, Anthony's role expanded in 2016 to include the position of Director of The Early Childhood Music ministry. In this weekday program, Anthony collaborates with teachers and students, ranging from 2 months to the young at heart. Armed with his degrees from Randolph-Macon College (BA in Music) and George Mason University (Master of Music in Composition), Anthony brings a wealth of knowledge to his position. His commitment to professional growth is evident through certifications with MusikGarten, completion of the Choristers Guild Institute, and ongoing commissions and publications for his original compositions. Anthony's passion for music education, honed through years of experience, centers around instilling music fundamentals and igniting a love for music in students of all ages.
Tamara Carver is the Assistant Director of the Early Childhood music school. Not only is she an expert at teaching all of our classes from First Music- Young Musicians 1, but also her background in finance assists her with the account management components of the ECMS program. Tamara received her BA in Economics and Business from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Old Dominion University. While raising her daughters in the Hampton Roads area she enrolled them both in ECMS. During her time as a parent, she fell in love with the program.
With a good eye and ear for talent in her classrooms Mrs. Cindy Freeman, former director, recognized Tamara’s potential gifts to ECMS. Now Tamara brings with over 15 years of experience her love of learning, dancing, and attention to detail to her classrooms. Not only has she participated in several MusikGarten trainings, ECCMA workshops, and education seminars but she also attended the Graduate Summer Music Institute at the University of Hartford. During this course, she furthered her education in Music Learning Theory by Edwin Gordon a Music Education Theorist on which much of our curriculum is based. One of Tamara’s main passions is working as an outreach teacher with our Elliot’s Song program. She provides weekly music instruction to at-risk preschool children in the WJCC area.
Teachers
Kathy Parisi has been teaching at ECMS for over 15 years. Kathy has been a violinist almost her entire life and continued her studies at Hofstra University in Homestead, New York where she received a Music degree in Music Management. Upon arrival in Williamsburg, she has been active in Williamsburg’s music community. Kathy has been a professional violinist at Busch Gardens, and groups around town, as well as grown her own flourishing Violin and Viola studio.
While attending music classes with her boys Kathy enjoyed how ECMS laid a strong foundation for music learning with young families. Since then she has been certified to work with several of our classes and excels at all of our parent and me classes. She has also been an active teacher in our outreach program Elliot’s Song since 2011.
Andrea Fegley earned her Master of Music in flute performance from the University of North Texas. She was a two-time semi-finalist in the National Flute Association Baroque Artist competition and has performed with the Dallas Bach Society and the Orchestra of New Spain. She maintained a private flute studio in the Dallas area before moving to Virginia. In Williamsburg, she has worked with Flute Frenzy and has been an assistant with the Early Childhood Music School since 2016. She received her Virginia teaching certificate in 2016 and teaches elementary music in Newport News Public Schools.
Devan Orr is one of our newest teachers, working with the [insert class here] for the 2026-27 school year. She started as a parent here with her daughter, and loves being integrated into the community and culture of ECMS. Devan went to college at Arizona State University, where she played baritone horn in the Sun Devil Marching Band, the bassoon in wind ensembles, and sang with the ASU Pitchforks, an all-female a cappella choir.
When not singing and dancing with her daughter, Devan is a law librarian at William & Mary Law School, where she teaches legal research and legal writing to J.D. and international LL.M. students. She also enjoys cooking, hiking, and being out and about in Williamsburg.
Iris Redmond is certified as a Musical Explorer teacher through Musikgarten and has Level 1 certification in Orff Prior to her teaching at ECMS, Iris was the Music Teacher for many years at the West Point Elementary School. Being an accomplished violinist, Iris is also quite involved in community and church praise bands, orchestras, choirs and chamber groups. Her professional career started as an attorney and then she obtained her Professional Teacher License in Music Education in 2009.
Kelli Sullivan holds degrees in music education from Eastern Michigan University and Virginia Commonwealth University. She has 13 years of experience teaching music in public and private schools and is Orff Schulwerk certified. For the past 11 years, she has taught at Walsingham Academy, working with students from preschool through high school in general music and band.
Kelli first became involved with ECMS as a parent. Her two children began in the Babies class and remain enrolled today, giving her a firsthand appreciation for the musical foundation ECMS provides to young children and their families.
