We are excited to welcome Ms. Rebecca Huff, CEO of Heart Havens since February 2024, as our guest speaker for November. Ms. Huff holds a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role.

The story of Heart Havens began in 1994, sparked by a dedicated pastor, Reverend Art Woltz, who was working with the Virginia United Methodist Conference. One day, he received a heartfelt question from a mother in Lynchburg: “Does the United Methodist Church have a place for my child when I die?” The answer, regrettably, was no, and this weighed heavily on Rev. Woltz. Moved by the mother’s concern, he knew action was needed.

What followed was a collaborative effort that included pastors, church members, conference leaders, and the United Methodist Men and Women across the Virginia United Methodist Conference. Through their combined efforts, Heart Havens was established by the Virginia Conference in 1996 and opened its first home in 1999, later becoming a 501(c)(3) organization in 2003.

The journey of Heart Havens is a testament to the power of listening, learning, and love—transforming a call for help into a beacon of support and community.

To ensure your seat, RSVP by November 13. The cost for the breakfast is $15 per person, with $5 of that amount being earmarked for the Harbour Scholarship Fund and other UMM-supported ministries.
